If you are affiliate marketing, getting traffic is always the problem.

There are a lot of ways to get traffic. You can pay for it with Adwords or PPC. You can work for it by writing a ton of articles. You can build a bunch of Web 2 pages on other free sites. You can build ten different websites and link them across to send traffic to your money site.

Lets talk about a successful way to set up a web2 marketing campaign.

I build a list of 50 keywords that get traffic and are not too competitive.
I set up a website of my own on the niche with about 10 articles on the niche. And a home page that has my offer. (opt in, product i recommend, my own product, a video, etc.) Make sure what you want them to do is perfectly clear and has specific benefits for them.

Next I will build a lens, hub or google page for each keyword.
Do NOT have affiliate links on any of them. Send everyone to your own site. Either the home page offer or a specific landing page for this keyword.

Once built. I will write or have written one article per lens and submit that to ezine articles.

After articles, I will social bookmark each lens a few times.

And add the rss feed for my lens, blogs and ezine articles to rss aggregators.

Now a couple more tips…

Put your best keyword in your squidoo account name. This will be a link around squidoo.

Get active and comment on other related lens, join some groups, be a fan for related lens also. Don’t waste time trying to add your link in comments. Just your name link will be enough to get visitors and a backlink to your content.

Thats enough for today. Keep an idea here for lots of marketing tips.

affiliate marketing with a collection of web 2.0 websites is a great way to build backlinks to your own websites and money pages. They usually rank better in the search engines than your own new websites do.

But once your website is about a year or two old, and you have built a bunch of backlinks you will be surprised at how well you can rank for long tail keywords. A simple article post with keyword in the title, page name, and twice in the post can rank on the first page. Not always but it is common enough. Add in some relevant related keywords and your new post can do well. You don’t want a post to only be on the exact keyword add in relevant keywords.

Example:

Main keyword “Acne help ebook”
Related keywords “skin care, skin problems, clear up skin, remove acne, acne scars”

When you add these other kinds of related words, your page is more valuable to the reader (in googles eyes)

Back to my main focus in this post: How to use Squidoo and other web 2 websites that allow you to add pages to their site for free. With the added value of high PageRank.

A lot of people use these sites wrong. Myself included. I tried building 50 squidoo lenses to promote various products with affiliate links on the squidoo page.

The problem with this is Google sees those links and I believe it hurts your search engine rankings especially if the squidoo lens is brand new.

I have tried a new tactic that seems to be working a lot better.

Don’t put affiliate links on your lens. Have all those lens, hubs point at your own website with just a simple anchor text link. Put about 4 links to your site and specifically a landing page for that specific problem/product.

And use the big arrow option at the bottom of your lens, it really catches peoples attention and gets them to take action.

Without affiliate links and if you have some decent content, you might be happy with the search engine rankings your new lens gets right off the bat. Add in some backlinks to your lens and you can push them up even more.

This way all your lens don’t have affiliate products/links on them and they are all adding backlinks to your own domain. You can use that later, trust me.
