A Successful Flipper Shares His Thoughts on the Future of Startup Websites
Buyers want more value for their money when it comes to buying startup websites. Is this part of the niche over with? Websites that show little to nothing when it comes to income and traffic tend to be overlooked nowadays. In the past, this wasn’t an issue as an attractive website would easily sell then without much thought to the figures. Currently, the selling price for a start up is in the $150 range which is about half of what it would go for in the past.
Website flippers who are also into internet marketing would say that startups are a thing of the past, but not this experienced flipper, I was able to interview. Not only is she a successful internet marketer who maintains several websites and develops startup websites to flip, she has also written a book which discusses the A to Z of flipping websites. Since 2008, she has sold more than 50 websites, and 1 last May. It was a startup with “zero traffic and earnings”, she said. But guess what? She was able to get $180 for it. This professional isn’t writing off startup websites just yet, but she does agree that selling them isn’t getting any easier.
She has been in the biz for quite a while, and has earned a substantial income online, so she is definitely in the position to say just how flippers can improve their game. Website flippers can still prove to buyers that buying startups is a good idea.
Straight to the point, she said, “. . . one of the greatest issues people face is to stop themselves from being tempted to take a lot of shortcuts and to focus only on their short term final bid price.” What should be more important to a seller instead, is to think about what he has to give to the buyer and not just what he can get. They call this over-delivering.
She also added that when flipping websites all aspects need to be carefully considered. The domain name, the niche selection, the web design and content creation are all important elements. One buyer may be more interested in the design while another could be keen on maximizing the profit potential of the selected niche. What I’m saying here is give attention to all aspects equally to draw a larger market and be able to increase the chances of profit.
Those who are creating turnkey sites and making profit say that the startup niche isn’t going away. Even better, this niche may be helping to distinguish the valuable websites from the bad ones. The opportunity is there to make money online. Grab it.
